AI System Engineer [GS24.007]

Overview

Vanguard Integration Group is seeking experienced System Engineer candidates with artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) skills for an existing, longstanding contract. This contract provides System Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to the ground systems organization of an Intelligence Community (IC) customer. This customer is responsible for developing, acquiring, launching, and operating advanced intelligence related systems. Candidates should have advanced understanding of System Engineering, System Integration, and Project Management,as well as advanced (or better) experience and understanding of AI/ML tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

High level duties include, but are not limited to:

·       Provide technical and programmatic SETA support to IC customer of R&D organization, supporting all phases of the acquisition process

·       Assist the customer with the oversight of technology development contracts, develop documents and briefings to communicate program/project status; brief Government and industry as required

·       Provide technical review and assessment of program development and readiness, identifying gaps between requirements and program capabilities

·       Work with the customerled multi-contractor FFRDC, SETA, and developer team for ideation and execution of cutting edge AI/ML solutions to meet mission needs

·       Advise senior customer leads on the opportunities and limitations of various AI/ML capabilities; provide recommendations for technical approaches and potential designs with associated tradeoffs

·       Support projects that mature applied algorithm technologies for transition to a system program office baseline

·       Support verification of models in development; validation of models in operation

·       Provide Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) services ensuring systems integration and closure of R&D systems

·       Monitor system and segment-level schedules, identify dependencies, highlight risks/issues/opportunities (R/I/O) to customers

·       Lead technical engineering meetings, capturing R/I/O, identify and document actions and decisions, ensure work properly identified and documented supporting customer led agile development process

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

·       Current TS/SCI clearance w/Poly

·       Bachelor degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) or related discipline with 10 years related experience (8 years with MS/MA; 5 years with PhD)

·       Intermediate (or better)understanding of the opportunities and limitations of various AI/ML capabilities and model types

·       Intermediate (or better) understanding/experience with all aspects of the AI/ML pipeline, including data preparation and processing, feature generation, training and validation, deployment to production and performance monitoring

Desired Qualifications

·       Aptitude for on-site, IC customer facing SETA work

·       Experience performing R&D or supporting an R&D organization

·       Experience as a System Engineer, Software Engineer or System Integrator

·       Experience with Agile development process

·       Strong project management and interpersonal skills with effective technical writing and briefing skills

This contract provides System Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to the ground systems organization of an Intelligence Community (IC) customer. Candidates should have advanced understanding of System Engineering, System Integration, and Project Management,as well as experience working on-site, in an IC customer facing SETA role.

Responsibilities

·       Provide Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) services ensuring systems integration and closure of R&D systems

·       Assist the customer with the oversight of technology development contracts, providing technical review and assessment of program development and readiness, identifying gaps between requirements and program capabilities;develop documents and briefings to communicate program/project status, briefing Government and industry as required

·       Review, monitor, and track requirements, interface control documents, test plans, and reporting

·       Lead technical engineering meetings, capturing risks/issues/opportunities (R/I/O), identify and document actions and decisions, ensure work properly identified and documented supporting customer led agile development process

·       Survey state of the art technologies to provide technical recommendations for future technology development and strategies

·       Work with the customerled multi-contractor FFRDC, SETA, and developer team for ideation and execution of cutting edge AI/ML solutions to meet mission needs

·       Advise customers on the opportunities and limitations of various AI/ML capabilities; provide recommendations for technical approaches and potential designs with associated tradeoffs
